WEE Society-about us-history graphic

The WEE Society

The Women’s Economic Equality (WEE) Society was established in 1996.  The Society is a registered non-profit provincial organization in Nova Scotia. Our goals are to ensure that women of diverse backgrounds are included in Community-based Economic Development (CED) in Nova Scotia. The Society also works to ensure that programs and services are available to help women participate in the economic and social development of their communities.

Our Mission
To promote the economic well-being of women in Nova Scotia by facilitating programs and services that support women’s full participation in the social and economic development of this province.

Our Guiding Principles

Gender Equality
We work to promote gender equality in programs, practices, structures and policies of government departments, agencies and community organizations.

Inclusiveness
We promote inclusiveness in our programs and services by supporting the involvement of diverse women.

Capacity Building
We promote community capacity building and the empowerment of women.

Community Partnerships
We work to promote effective partnerships with government departments, agencies and community organizations to enable positive and sustainable relationships and development activity.

Collaboration
We promote linkages and collaborative relationships with CED agencies and community organizations.

Flexibility
We promote flexibility in program delivery to support local community priorities.

Social and Economic Development
We believe that social and economic development are equally important to the development of healthy and sustainable communities.
