About Women Unlimited

oct-181What is Women Unlimited?

Women Unlimited is designed to assist diverse,  unemployed women in Lunenburg and Queens Counties and in the Halifax Regional Municipality in Nova Scotia, Canada, explore, prepare for, obtain and maintain employment in the trades and technology fields. Located at both the Nova Scotia Community College (NSCC) Lunenburg Campus in Bridgewater and the IT Campus in Halifax, this project is designed to support up to 125 women to find their places in the labour market.

Women Unlimited is co-sponsored by the Women’s Economic Equality  (WEE) Society and the Hypatia Association   in partnership with the NSCC. Women Unlimited partners also include the NS Advisory Council on the Status of Women, the Departments of Education and Community Services, Service Canada, a range of community-based organizations and equity groups as well as employers such as Michelin, Composites Atlantic and the Halifax Regional Municipality.

Steering Committees support the project in each region.  Their role is to work together to build a women-centred model that supports diverse women entering non-traditional programs and workplaces.

Why Do We Need Women Unlimited?

Women bring new skill sets and abilities to non-traditional job sites … a diverse workforce is a stronger workforce. As well, there is a shortage of skilled workers in these areas. And finally, jobs in these fields are well paid, and in a province where one in five families live in poverty, Women Unlimited can make a difference.
